A teenager from Hale Barns is hoping to emulate her heroes with Olympic success
Although their glory years came before she was born, Torvill and Dean were the inspiration for Megan Berry to take to the ice.
And the 13-year-old from Hale Barnes now hopes to follow in the record breaking duos tracks. I watched videos of them, she said. Thats what inspired me. If I keep going and keep practicing, I would love to be at the Olympics. I just want to keep doing my best and hopefully I will be good enough.
Megan, a pupil at Alderley Edge School for Girls has been skating since she was very young and is now coached at Altrincham by Sam Ozard who has also trained contestants for the TV show Dancing on Ice.
Megan is a member of the synchro team at Altrincham and made her debut in individual competition last month.
Megan added: I want to stick at it and go as far as I can. It can be hard getting up so early, especially on Monday, and training before school, but thats just what I have to do.
And mum Maria added: There are about 16 girls in the team and they train every Monday morning at 6am but she also practices throughout the week when ever she can.
It is tough but shes got the determination to do well. It is a difficult sport to reach the top level in though, because it is can be hard to get the necessary time on the ice. Thats why they train when they do, its the only time they can.
