Is there an inspiring woman in your life? An unsung heroine worthy of an award?

For the 23rd year Cheshire Life and Lancashire Life magazines are proud to be media supporters of the Inspiring Women Awards, which aim to bring recognition to the region’s exceptional women.

Launched in 1992 by Hale businesswoman, Jacqueline Hughes-Lundy, the 2015 lunch and awards ceremony will take place on May 15 at The Midland Hotel, Manchester.

There are five categories open for public nomination: Business Award sponsored by Deloitte; Entrepreneur Award; Inspiring Young Woman Award; Community Award sponsored by New Charter Housing; Inspirational Leadership in Arts and Culture and the Nurturing Female Talent (company) Award sponsored by Manchester Metropolitan University. In addition there will be a Special Judges award for one exceptional woman whose achievements fall outside the award categories.

Finalists will then be invited to the Inspiring Women Awards lunch, hosted by BBC and ITV broadcaster Andy Crane, who will be teasing out the nominees’ stories before the winners are announced. ‘It is always an honour to be part of this event,’ said Andy. ‘It’s important to recognise the achievements of some of the most inspiring and extraordinary women in the region.’

Past recipients of Inspiring Women awards demonstrate the diversity of nominees the judges are seeking. Many winners have gone on to receive wider public recognition, including Joint Community award winners Joanne Thompson and Nicola Graham from Millie’s Trust and Reuben’s Retreat, who have both appeared in the top 20 Mancunians of 2014. Joanne also won Lorraine Kelly’s 2014 Inspirational Woman of the year.

MBEs have been awarded to Business Award winner Tracy Mort and Entrepreneur Award winner Lisa Tse. In January, Business and Professional award winner Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.
