The Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, a charity set up following the bombing in Warrington town centre which killed two boys, held a 20th anniversary ball to mark the tragic occasion - and all that has been achieved since.

The ball, at the Park Royal Hotel, near Stretton, was organised by the Foundation along with founders Wendy and Colin Parry whose son, Tim, was 12 when he was killed. Another local boy, three-year-old Johnathan Ball, was also killed by the IRA bomb in March 1993.

The ball was attended by civic dignitaries, friends, family and supporters of the Foundation which exists to promote harmony in all communities.

The anniversary is also being marked by the publication of a commemorative book designed to help young people understand how hatred and tragedy can be transformed into a legacy of hope. Entitled Good Can Come From Evil the book for children and families has been produced by the Foundation for Peace in partnership with the Golden Square Shopping Centre.

It has been written by an independent author with input from the Parry family, the Foundation and local education experts to enable Warrington families and schoolteachers to understand the tragic events of 1993, the way in which the town and its community was affected and the good work towards conflict resolution which has taken place since with the formation of the Foundation.
