Coronation Street's Kym Marsh singing with Hollyoaks Gerard McCarthy

Some of the nation's favourite TV stars battled it out in front of almost 2,000 people at the Deva Stadium, home to Chester City Football Club, in the Soapstar Football Challenge.

The home team was made up of Hollyoaks stars including Nick Pickard, Chris Fountain, Ashley Taylor-Dawson and Ricky Whittle. The opposition was made up of stars from Coronation Street, Shameless, Emmerdale, Shipwrecked and Waterloo Road, including Ryan Thomas, Andy Wyment, Danny Tennant and Glenn Lamont. The All Stars won a tightly fought game, thrilling the crowd, with a 2-1 win over the Hollyoaks team.


Hollyoaks also held a star-studded evening of entertainment at Chester Racecourse, where the cast entertained 350 people. Coronation Street's Kym Marsh joined Hollyoaks cast members to provide a showstopping musical performance. The event was sponsored by David M. Robinson and Merseysound.


The events were expected to raise around 30,000 for the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal and Claire House Children's Hospice.
