An oriental touch added glamour to the annual ball of the Children's Adventure Farm Trust at Mere Golf and Country Club, raising over £140,000 for the charity.
Coronation Street stars Suranne Jones, Jennifer James and Denise Welch joined in the fun in aid of disabled, terminally ill and disadvantaged children. 2008 Paralympic double gold medallists Sarah and Barney Storey also came along and donated a prize of a training session at the Velodrome for the auction. Guests were treated to a Chinese-themed drinks reception and were called through to dinner by an authentic Dragon dance in the main room. Events fundraiser Pippa Watton said: 'We have been blown away by the generosity of our guests this year. We were obviously a little concerned that the credit crunch would drastically affect our fundraising, but our supporters have been amazing. We are so touched that they were able to put their troubles to one side to help children in desperate need.'
