Cheshire drone aerial photography shows county from on high
The peace of lockdown has given Kurt Thomas and his stepson Daniel Kirwin the chance to reach for the skies as aerial photographers. Now DKS Drones, based in Disley, is flying high over Cheshire and the surrounding counties, producing videos and photographs of private houses and farmland, property images for estate agents, architects and builders, and pictures for village businesses to use on promotional postcards and newsletters.
Kurt says: “I have been a chef for 40 years, cooking everything from Michelin star food to trendy street food for my Cookingforevents business. Dan studied graphic design and is an artisan baker. So why aerial photography? Because it offers us a chance to see and show scenery from a completely different perspective. We took a Civil Aviation Authority licence course, bought professional drones and insurance and started the business because we knew we could combine my love of artistic presentation from the food industry, my passion for photography, and Dan’s graphic design skills.
“In these days of blink and swipe, I absolutely love presenting a client with their canvas and watching them spend ages working out where everything is.
“Lockdown, with its ban on social gatherings, gave us the perfect opportunity to apply ourselves fully, turning a hobby into a 21st-century profession.
“Our drone videos, which are set to music, reveal the beauty of Cheshire, North Wales and the surrounding areas through each season.”
