After a cold, cloudy start, the sun eventually broke through to produce a wonderful spring day for the Mere Spring Pro-Am.

Competitors started teeing off at 10am and a full field of 70 players meant the last tee time was 1.50pm. When players started coming in after their round there was nothing but praise for the organisation of the event, the prize fund and the way the course was set up.

Graham Neville, PGA Assistant Golf Professional at The Mere said: I would like to thank all the competitors for making the event so special. I am sure they agree that The Mere, as a golf course and venue is nothing less than magnificent.

Congratulations must go to Adam McCabe who picked up the 550 winners cheque with a fantastic score of 41 points (5 under par) closely followed by defending champion Tom Murray with a score of 40 points. The team prize was won by Tom Murray and Craig Stanners with a score of 43 points. The nearest the pin prize was won by Mike Bennison. All profits from the nearest the pin competition will go to Mind charity.

The event was supported by Titleist, Footjoy and SSP Energy Bars (www.sspgolf.com)
