Cheshire's former Lord Lieutenant Sir William Bromley Davenport marked his retirement from the post with a party at Arley Hall. The new Lord Lieutenant David Briggs took up the post earlier this year and used the event to nominate Viscount Ashbrook to act as one of his vice Lord Lieutenants. Sir William, of Capesthorne Hall, was Lord Lieutenant for 20 years and is also a former High Sheriff.
