The Inspiring Young Women Foundation has been launched to honour the regions young female achievers. The launch marks the coming of age in 2010 of the long-established Inspiring Women Awards.

The new foundation is in association with Britannia and the Co-operative Bank, both part of The Co-operative Financial Services Group. The established foundation has celebrated amazing female achievement for 18 years.

IW founder Jacqueline Hughes Lundy said: The Inspiring Young Women Foundation will fund an award and bursary, open to 16-25-year-olds, in recognition of those young women who have beaten the odds to achieve their dream; been inspirational to others; helped their communities or set up businesses.

To launch this foundation, sponsors, including Britannia, Business Link NorthWest and Deloitte, corporate supporters and previous award winners were invited to enjoy drinks and canaps at Abode Hotel, Manchester.

Jacqueline Hughes-Lundy, introduced the aims of the foundation and one of its ambassadors, 20-year-old Kanika Selvan, who will be helping to judge the award. Kanika has volunteered at home and in Bangalore and Chenai. In the summer of 2009, she was given The Anita Roddick Award for her values work.
