Members of the charity Friends of the Sea held a gala dinner at The Grange, Thornton Hough, in honour of all those who lost their lives on the Titanic. Some guests wore striking period costumes for the occasion and historic artefacts were on display.

Almost 100 years since disaster befell the ocean liner, diners heard tales of the dramatic events from historian Ken Pye. Many of the crew were from the Liverpool area.

Guests at The Granges black tie event enjoyed a meal to the accompaniment of a string quartet.
