The Manchester and District Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association are screening the classic film Dirty Dancing at Stockport Plaza on Thursday 17 May 7.30pm to raise awareness of the disease and much needed funds for the Association.

The Branch, run entirely by volunteers, supports people living with MND in the Greater Manchester area, along with their families, friends and carers. There are around 150 people in Greater Manchester currently receiving support from the Branch.

The idea behind an 80s film screening is to recognise the length of time the Branch has been in operation; 2012 marks its 30th anniversary and we cant think of a better classic than Dirty Dancing. The plan is to hold more 80s film nights throughout the 30th year said volunteer Helen Harland.

As an added treat for cinema goers on the night, a fleet of 60s cars, similar to those featured in Dirty Dancing, will be outside the cinema for people to view and even pose for a photo or two.

Tickets for the Dirty Dancing screening are 7.50 and are available from the Plaza Box Office, 0161 477 7779 or www.stockportplaza.co.uk.

Limited tickets available on the night
