Chester solicitors and colleagues flocked to the citys racecourse and hosted a glamorous ball to raise money for the national charity Help for Heroes and the regions own Mercian Regiment Benevolent Fund. The event, organised by Walker Smith Way and Cullimores, raised over 50,000.

Following a champagne reception sponsored by the barristers chambers, St Johns Building, the guests were drummed in to the Pavilion Suite by the First Battalion Mercian Regiment Drummers. The music continued with the Cheshire Police Band entertaining 460 guests.

His Honour Judge Elgan Edwards, Honorary Recorder of Chester, commented:The event was excellent. It was a most successful evening. Thank you to all our sponsors and guests for their generosity, particularly Chester Racecourse.

The ball was supported by many local companies.
