The event was sponsored by Saffery Champness of Manchester and opened by the charitys local president Felicity Goodey CBE. The evening included a VIP reception followed by a talk from Mr King on his travels over 30 years from Africa to the Arctic.

There was also a book signing of the Trusts Cheshires Favourite Wildlife publication. Mr King accepted the keys to a brand new 4x4 vehicle donated to the Trust by Warrington-based water company United Utilities. The evening raised more than 5,000 for the charitys conservation project.
