The Alderley Edge Hotel was the elegant setting for the Northern dinner of the Champagne Academy.
The Academy was formed 53 years ago by eight of the most famous houses as a way of educating the UK Wine Trade about the Grande Marque Champagne.
The Houses of the Academy, which reads like a Who's Who of champagne brands, now consists of 16 houses and host up to four UK dinners per year for Academy members and their guests.
Champagne Lanson is this year's Presidential House, ably supported by Krug and Laurent-Perrier as Vice Presidential Houses.
Past chairman, David Garlick, said the dinners are a chance for some of the UK's top chefs to produce outstanding menus to match magnificent champagnes. Chris Holland, head chef of the Alderley Edge Hotel, was more than a match for the occasion, he said.
