Solicitors helped raise more than 17,000 for the Leonard Cheshire Homes for the Disabled. More than 300 lawyers and guests attended Butcher and Barlows Credit Crunch Ball which was held at Hunger Hill Farm, Lower Peover.


The event was organised by Shirley Tudor-Evans from the Leonard Cheshire Appeal Committee and planners Jane Shelmerdine and Judy Bailey. Hyde-based boxing world champion Ricky Hatton sent gloves for the auction, which also featured Anton Du Bekes dancing shoes and items donated by stars from Coronation Street and Hollyoaks.
