For the first time the United Kingdom Association of Women Judges (UKAWJ) joined with the Association of Women Barristers (AWB) and the Association of Women Solicitors (AWS) to host a dinner for members across Manchester.

For the first time the United Kingdom Association of Women Judges (UKAWJ) joined with the Association of Women Barristers (AWB) and the Association of Women Solicitors (AWS) to host a dinner for members across Manchester. The event was sponsored by the Manchester office of national law firm Mills & Reeve and the barristers of the Northern Circuit.


Over 80 guests attended the dinner at the Midland Hotel which featured a speech from the President of the UKAWJ and Justice of The Supreme Court, The Right Hon the Baroness Hale of Richmond. Baroness Hales address concentrated on inequalities within the judiciary with particular reference to gender inequality. She expressed both a strong wish for more women to consider applying for judicial office, and for the judiciary at all levels to become more representative of the people it serves.
