Yu Alderley Edge lunch raises £4,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK

Yu in Alderley Edge was the setting for a glamorous lunch in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Cheshire Life’s Restaurant of the Year, Yu, in Alderley Edge, was the destination for a special luncheon, to raise much-needed funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

It was organised by Eimear Maguire of James Maguire & Co solicitors, Wilmslow, after she had been inspired by Alzheimer’s fundraiser Fred Walker whose wife, Joan, had suffered from the condition which affects around 850,000 people in the UK.

Fred spoke movingly about his experiences and gave guests a brief but fascinating insight into the disease during a luncheon which started at the bar with canapés and glasses of champagne.

Guests were presented with an exquisite menu that included Yu signature dish: Victor Yu’s deconstructed Crispy Duck and Pancakes - pancakes they assembled themselves using thin slices of aromatic breast of duck, crispy duck skin, spring onions and cucumber in yuzu and hoi sin.

The event also included close-up magic and an auction for a three night stay at a Natural Retreats Lodge, Chef’s Table for four at Yu and bed and breakfast at Manchester’s King Street Townhouse.

There were some fabulous raffle prizes for guests to win too, including vouchers for Wilmslow Cookery School, Gusto in Alderley Edge and for a treatment at Alderley Dental Aesthetic Rejuvenation.

The lunch was hailed a huge success and raised about £4,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
