The inaugural One in a Million Ball was held at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa, near Knutsford, in aid of Epilepsy Action in memory of Carla Rankin.

Carla died in 2014 aged only 27, due to the illness. The occasion was organised by her parents, Ian and Denise Rankin, her sister Felicity, and friends Keke Chai and Sarah Le Sueur.

Over 250 people from around the world attended and more than £25,000 was raised in a silent auction and raffle. Entertainment was provided by Sticky Treacle band, and a video of support from TV duo Ant and Dec was shown. The family’s goal is to raise £1,000,000 in memory of Carla.
