Chester has its own Christmas advert this year to rival the likes of John Lewis and the big supermarkets.

The star of the show is Will Wood, former drama teacher at St David’s in Saltney, who is seen doing his Christmas shopping in the city.

See it here and let us know what you think.

The advert, available on YouTube and Vimeo, promotes the Chester Gift Card, which is redeemable at more than 100 shops, restaurants and attractions in Chester city centre and has been produced by Chester BID. Emily Ghazarian, marketing and events manager at the Chester Business Improvement District says: “The film was produced entirely witn a local team including Jonny Noakes Films and Kat Hannon Photography, together withthe support of local traders.

“Alongside Mr Wood, who also played God in the Chester Mystery Plays, the other stars are local residents and staff from city centre businesses.

It was filmed in just two days, edited in two days, and released the day after. A video of this type really could have merited 20 days filming and 10 days editing but we made it happen with the parameters we had.

“While there has been some concern about buying vouchers given how challenged some businesses are, the Chester Gift Card mitigates against this risk by joining forces with more than 100 businesses where the card can be spent.”
