Eddie, the English pointer (Winsford): “He’s the laziest dog you’d meet,” laughs owner Haleema Kara. “If he was a human, he’d be the one that wakes up just before Christmas dinner is served. He does love a costume though, and will happily oblige to me dressing him up.”

Lola, the labrador/ husky cross (Crewe): Lola is about 10-years-old and was adopted from Animal Lifeline in Stoke-on-Trent about four years ago. She’s a gentle giant, owner Charli Carruthers says. “She’s a total daddy’s girl and loves her walks – almost as much as her food. She usually dresses up on Christmas Day to join in on the festive fun. This year she’ll have a new baby sister (of the human variety) so matching outfits are very likely!”

Frankie, the English bulldog (Stockport): It’s Frankie’s first Christmas with his new forever home this year: owner Julie Earnshaw says: “He required some medical attention when he arrived, but is now acting like a young pup (he’s three-years-old). He fills an emptiness we didn’t know we had. He is so loveable and brightens our days.”
