Making dreams come true is all in a day’s work for the owner of Maddison J Creations Katie Jones.
Katie is an event/wedding stylist whose job it is to take the wedding day fantasies of brides and grooms and turn them into a stunning reality.
She will go to great lengths to ensure her couples get the look they want on their big day and gives them the confidence to pursue their dreams as well as the expertise to ensure it’s all brought in on budget.
The mother-of-three, who trained in interior design, suddenly realised that weddings were her heart’s desire but when her second child was born eight weeks prematurely she had to put her plans to launch her wedding stylist business on hold.
‘It was planning my own wedding three years ago that helped me take the plunge and I am happy to say it has absolutely taken off,’ says Katie, who named her business Maddison J Creations after her little girl, who is now aged nine.
‘I began to realise that’s what I wanted to do and after 12 months of being in the business, Thornton Manor asked if I’d like to become a recommended supplier, which was a massive compliment to myself and my team.’
It’s the attention to detail that has helped Maddison J Creations impress their clients and they will not only help with creating a beautiful interior but can advise on every aspect of the wedding.
‘We are available around the clock for them,’ explains Katie.
‘I’m there sometimes answering emails or calls at 10 o’clock at night because we know that people have busy lives. We are there for them on every step of their journey. It’s the little things that go a long way when planning weddings.’
To illustrate this, Katie describes how one of her clients was a nurse who often didn’t finish work until 11pm, so naturally she had to make time to suit those hours.
‘All our correspondence ended up being late at night,’ she says.
‘But we really do love getting to know the couples along the way and we are really quite sad when it’s all over!’
Katie works closely with her manager and is very hands on when it comes to putting the bride and groom’s plans into action.
‘First of all we meet them at their venue, we go through all their ideas and try to find out what they are planning in their head and then see if we can get it to their budget. After that, everything is done by emails and telephone until six weeks before the wedding, when we meet them again at their venue to go over everything.’ she says.
‘It’s about working closely alongside clients and allowing them to be in charge but they also have confidence in us because it is our profession. Often it’s hard for people to articulate their ideas and that’s where we come in.
‘For instance, we were showing one of our clients examples of our work but she couldn’t really visualise it for her own wedding, so we went to her home and basically built what she wanted in her back garden. That’s how far we are willing to go.’
The biggest wedding trend at the moment is for bringing the outside indoors and Maddison J Creations has 13 varieties of trees for couples to choose from.
‘Last year the trend was blossom trees and this year its wisteria and greenery but for us no ask is too great,’ says Katie. ‘We are open to whatever couples have in their head’.
Katie’s own wedding just a few weeks ago was held at Thornton Manor and she pulled out all the stops to showcase her talent at transforming a space.
‘Mine was a gold and greenery theme and on the day people said it looked like something out of Jumanji which is what I wanted,’ she says.
‘ I wanted that initial wow factor when people walked in.’
It isn’t the attention to detail on the visual aspect that can make an impact, Kate also used scented candles created by Wirral-based Owen Drew on her own wedding day to help set the atmosphere.
‘My wedding shows my capabilities and what I can do for my clients. Even on my big day I was half way to getting ready and had my rollers in and I was up a ladder. That’s how much I care about the detail.
‘With our weddings we stay all day. We turn everything around after the wedding ceremony and we do not leave until the last candle is lit.
‘We genuinely care about the customer. We run the business to make a positive difference in the wedding journey for people, we don’t just do it to make money and the best bit is on the day when we see their faces and all their plans have come to life.
‘So far we have 100 per cent satisfaction from our clients and hopefully we can continue with that.’
