Beauty, brains and fashion sense were on parade when students at King’s School sixth form in Macclesfield took to the catwalk and in doing so raised a record-breaking £7,000 for The Christie Hospital’s charity appeal. The money raised will go towards helping fund care and pioneering work at The Christie in Withington, one of the leading hospitals in cancer care, research and education. The fashion show is an integral part of King’s social calendar, as over the past decade, the Macclesfield school has raised well over £50,000 from the annual event.
The talented students planned, choreographed and staged the entire event by themselves, this year’s theme being glitter and gold. Students strutted down the catwalk to disco classics such as Mambo No. 5, Club Tropicana and It’s Raining Men.
Olivia Bowcock said: ‘A massive vote of thanks goes to the brilliant Boohoo for lending us all the clothes for the evening and to Thomas Cook for donating so many fantastic raffle prizes.’
The fashion show played out to an enthusiastic audience of over 300 fellow pupils and parents in the main hall.
