Finding the perfect wedding location in Cheshire

Finding the perfect location for your big day is nearly as important as finding the right man, writes Amanda Griffiths

Some people have known from a young age where they want to get married. For some its a personal ceremony at the church theyve been attending since childhood or one that has sentimental family attachments; for others its a building theyve simply fallen in love with as an adult.

When it comes to choosing a wedding venue there are no right or wrong choices. Its about personal choice and ultimately a reflection of the two of you as a couple. There is no doubt that your choice of venue will set the tone for your big day and will even influence your theme so make sure you think carefully about what it is you want.

If you marry in church youll be looking for another venue for your reception; think about the proximity of your venue to the church and ease of transport for your guests to get there.

You may however choose to marry in a stately home or hotel, licensed for civil ceremonies so you can plan the whole thing under one roof. Once guests arrive there are no worries about them getting lost en-route between ceremony and reception (unless they get lost very easily).

Choosing a venue with on-site accommodation is beneficial to both you and your guests.

Of course, you might dream of hosting your reception at home. If youve got the space, a marquee in the garden is a great option and youll get some very personal wedding photographs.

Whatever type of venue youre looking for, Cheshire has something to cater for everyone. Weve put together our own top tips checklist to help you when finding that perfect setting.

Top tips

Space: think about how many guests you want to invite and find out the maximum number your venue can cater for.

Extras: check whether the venue will provide you with things like a cake stand and knife, table linen and decorations or whether you have to hire them separately.

If youre having a civil ceremony check what the price includes and which arrangements (like booking the registrar) you have to do yourself.

Photography:
we all want amazing photographs in a beautiful location but think about the dcor inside your venue just in case it rains! Remember, the dcor of your venue will be in the background of your wedding photograph that could stand on your mantelpiece for years to come as a constant reminder of your day.
