Cheshire is blessed with many pretty lakes, this one in the heart of Cheshire is well worth a visit.

Pickmere lies in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, it iss four miles north of Northwich and around six miles west of Knutsford.

The proximity to both these popular towns makes it a useful short detour for visitors to the area or a place of tranquillity for those who live nearby.

Most people refer to the body of water as Pickmere Lake, but its actual name is in fact Pick Mere, (mere being an old English name for lake).

Pickmere is a small but pretty village with around 500 residents, and is a previous winner of the Best Kept Village/Market Town in Cheshire award at the Cheshire Community Pride competition.

A few miles away to the west is the larger and more famous village of Great Budworth which is popular with walkers and cyclists, drive past here and you are on en route to Arley Hall, if you head east you can visit the splendour of Tatton Park.
