Thursday 25th October 2018 saw the official opening of the new million-pound Head Office for local business Community Windpower Limited.
Community Windpower Limited, based in Frodsham, started developing Renewable Energy generating sites, in the UK, in 2001.
The company has grown substantially, from its start-up days of a small family-owned business investigating onshore wind farm development, into a National player in the wind industry, owning and operating 7 onshore wind farms, with a further 3 to be built out and a pipeline of projects under development.
Mr Rod Wood, Owner and Managing Director of Community Windpower, welcomed 200 guests to the Official Opening of their new Head Office, commenting “It’s a testament to our fabulous team that we have successfully delivered 225MW of operational generation in Scotland and this investment, made here in Frodsham, supporting local businesses, provides a solid foundation for our next stage of growth; onshore wind is the cheapest and most abundant form of green energy as shown by our recent long term contract with Nestle.”
The Mayor of Frodsham, Councillor Lord Frank Pennington, speaking as he officially opened the office, said “Rod and Diane have created an elegant, stylish and modern workplace with state of the art facilities and I am delighted they chose to invest in Frodsham, creating local job and business opportunities. I applaud them for their commitment to Frodsham and use of talented local builders.”
Community Windpower are focused on the development of onshore wind farms in the UK, with a strategic emphasis in Scotland, and are committed to the appointment of suppliers and businesses local to the wind farms to construct and maintain them.
Therefore, the same approach was applied to the development and construction of the new office, with local companies and trades contracted to complete these modern and spacious offices.
The Company currently employs over 40 staff based in Frodsham and is recruiting more experienced project developers and engineers.
To date over £3m has been invested, supporting local communities in Scotland, under the BeGreen Initiative which encourages local residents to insulate their homes and provides grants to reduce energy consumption and use renewable energy as well as funding for local Groups.
