Christmas Black Forest Gateau

G Wienholt, Alderley Edge

The cakes, bakes and pastries from this renowned bakery need little introduction. Most days you’ll find a queue at this lovely shop, which all started in the 1860s when young confectioner Ferdinand Wienholdt came from Germany to find his fortune. Choose one of their showstoppers, their Christmas Black Forest Gateau, as the centrepiece of your Christmas Day dinner table for a dessert that’s a bit different.
