12 Christmas Cocktails in Manchester

We’ve selected 12 Christmas inspired cocktails to help you celebrate the festivities in style.

Christmas tis the season to indulge in all things festive, including plenty of celebratory drinks. It seems that Manchester’s bar scene is also getting into the festive spirit, as many of them have introduced special Christmas cocktails to help you celebrate the holiday season in style.

We’ve put together a short guide of Manchester’s best seasonal tipples at some of the city’s best bars.


'Elixir of Life' at Tattu

A cocktail with the moniker of ‘Elixir of Life’ was always going to grab our attention. This smoky cocktail on the Tattu winter cocktail menu contains Jinzu Gin, Elderflower and Vanilla.

‘Sloe Gin & Winter Tonic’ at The Botanist

A festive slant on the G&T and a great alternative to mulled wine, the Sloe Gin & Winter Tonic combines Sip Smith Sloe Gin, Christmas Spiced Tonic and a dash of rhubarb bitters.

‘Mulled Sangria’ at El Gato Negro

Chocolate and Orange are classic Christmas flavours, the Clemen-time from El Gato Negro contains brandy, rum, chocolate and orange. If you want bring an Iberican flavour your own Christmas celebrations, you can try their mulled sangria recipe.

‘Cranble’ at Hispi, Didsbury

Back by popular demand, the Cranble is the perfect cocktail for gin lovers as it’s made up of cranberry infused gin, lemon, sugar syrup and creme de mure all garnished with cranberries soaked in gin.

‘Old Saint Nick’ at Cloud 23

This fruity number on the winter cocktail menu at Cloud 23 Bar contains Ketel 1 Vodka, blackberry liqueur, elderflower liqueur, a dash of lemon and a cute red and white candy cane. We think that given the choice, Santa would much prefer this to a glass of sherry.

‘Xmas Trifle’ at The Alchemist

There was a time when a trifle was a staple item at Christmas familyb gatherings, while your Nan may have laced the caloric dessert with way too much sherry, the Xmas Trifle at the Alchemist has a Italian Aperol, Jamaican Appleton Estate Rum, white chocolate cream topped with a drop of fizz.

‘Hansel and Gretel’ at Albert’s Schloss

If you’re heading to Manchester to visit the German Christmas Markets, there really is only one bar to visit. The Bavarian-themed Albert’s Schloss is just a short walk from the heart of the action and this year they have a full winter cocktail menu; the Hansel and Gretel combines Martel cognac, custard, cinnamon, egg white, star anise.

'Bacon Old Fashioned' at Grand Pacific

Think of some of your favourite festive flavours. Whisky? Citrus Peel? Bacon? Bacon Old Fashioned contains Bacon Washed Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Maple Syrup, Orange Bitters & Crispy Bacon.

'Hot Buttered Whisky' at Arcane

The obligatory New Year get-fit pledge is still a few weeks away; in the meantime we get to indulge in all the things that taste good, because that’s what everyone does at Christmas. The Hot Buttered Whisky at Arcane is the very definition of a guilty pleasure in a cup.

‘Belllringer' at Dirty Martini

Dirty Martini have a wide range of Christmas cocktails including the Mince Chai and the Quince and Walnut Old Fashioned. The pretty Bellringer contains Amaretto Disaronno, mixed with cranberry juice and blood orange syrup, topped with Prosecco. Does that include two of your five a day?

‘Rest Assured’ at Refuge

Refuge at the Principal Hotel in Manchester has added a touch of style to the Manchester cocktail scene, the ‘Rest-Assured’ is on the main cocktail menu and contains: raisin-infused bourbon, caramel, chocolate liqueur and apple.

The Gingerbread Man at Menagerie

The adorable Gingerbread Man at Menageries look almost too good to drink. But with a mixture of Smoky Bulleit bourbon, Gingerbread syrup, orange, rosemary, and thyme, we’re you won’t have any problems once you tasted it.
