Popular actress Sue Jenkins enjoys a wide range of stage and TV roles but she is best known for her many appearances in Brookside and Coronation Street. Sue, who lives with her family in Bramhall loves dining out and tells us about her favourite local restaurants.

Gusto

Landmark House, Station Rd, Cheadle Hulme. 0161 488 1180

There are other Gusto branches in the area but the one we go to fairly regularly is in Cheadle. I love it there. It’s just wonderful Italian food (one of my favourites). The calimari is lovely and they do great pasta, pizza and beautiful steaks and specials. I also recently discovered their really terrific cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic (for the driver!)

The Market Restaurant, Northern Quarter

104 High Street, Manchester, M4 1HQ 0161 834 3743 www.market-restaurant.com

My family and I have spent so many special occasions here, from birthdays to anniversaries, Mother’s Day and I could go on and on. Gary and his staff are so welcoming and the food is just beautiful. I always feel I’ve been whisked off somewhere really special when we go here. Always a treat.

The Grill on The Edge

46 London Road, Alderley Edge, Cheshire, SK9 7DZ 01625 584163 www.blackhouse.uk.com/restaurant

There’s nothing better after a busy week for David and I - and as many of the family we can get together - relaxing over a fabulous Sunday lunch. I do enjoy cooking and so does David but sometimes it’s just great to let other people do it. At The Edge, the Sunday lunch is superb with huge portions, which is perfect, as none of our family eat like birds!

Gaucho Steakhouse

2a St Mary’s Street, Manchester M3 2LB, 0161 833 4333 www.gauchorestaurants.co.uk

For some of the best steaks I’ve ever tasted, this is a superb restaurant. The waitresses come over with every cut of steak for the customer to look at, chat about and eventually make a choice. This makes it a real dining experience, more than simply going out for a meal. Every steak is perfect and the sauces complement all cuts perfectly. This is a great choice for a special occasion.

Sangam, Cheadle

202 Wilmslow Rd, Heald Green, Cheadle, SK8 3BH 0161 436 8809

We’ve been eating here for years. It’s a large restaurant so we can always be sure of a table. The Indian cuisine is always so good, very freshly cooked. My favourite dish to date is Lamb Cheshni. I sometimes try other dishes but always come back to this favourite. David likes much hotter dishes (with three chilli signs)!
