Owned by my good friend Simon Rimmer, this would be on the list even if I didn’t know him. A brilliant, inventive menu that uses local produce. There is something for everyone here - we even bother them with our kids! The service is excellent and the wine and beer list is well researched and chosen with care. I recommend this place to so many people, I should be on commission!

It’s the best Indian food we’ve had in the UK. The Mughlai cuisine that they specialise in is of the highest quality. It’s always frustrating when I’m working away as I can never find Indian food as good as Mughli’s, even in London. The restaurant is beautifully designed from the bar to the seating area. If ever I’m collecting a takeaway - which is often - the manager has a glass of champagne waiting for me on the bar. That’s what I call service!
Bullocks Lane, Macclesfield SK11 0HE
Whenever we eat at Sutton Hall, it feels like we’re away at a country treat. It’s a picturesque setting - a 500-year-old manor house in acres of land. I’m not a massive real ale fan but this place could convert me, their selection is vast. There are so many cosy little nooks and crannies to eat in - seven different eating areas. I tried eel for the first time here and it blew me away.
81 King St Knutsford, WA16 6DX
My children love eating here as pasta is their favourite food. I love the Lobster Themidore and when Jen and I are alone, we love to sit at the bar and have a cocktail. It’s great for family parties as the Italian menu is a crowd-pleaser for all ages.
THE PLOUGH & FLAIL
Paddock Hill Mobberley, Knutsford, WA16 7DB
A well-run, busy eaterie that works for both an off-the-cuff midweek jaunt or a Sunday lunch. The playground is a life-saver when you’ve got the kids in tow in the summer and the outside patio is great to just sit and imbibe a great bottle of rosé. The menu is quality classic wholesome pub grub with a twist - the pies ROCK!
