Eat Out to Help Out in Cheshire this month
Support Cheshire’s under-siege hospitality businesses by eating out this month and saving money through the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
Restaurants, cafés, and tearooms across the county, including hundreds of independent businesses, are taking part in the initiative running from August 3 to 31st, where diners receive 50% off their bill at businesses registered with the government scheme aimed at helping regenerate the sector that has been particularly hard hit by Covid-19.
Cheshire Life editor Joanne Goodwin said: “Cheshire is full of excellent, welcoming hospitality businesses and this is a chance to eat out at participating venues on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout August and claim 50 per cent discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a maximum of £10 for each person dining.
“Safety measures mean businesses have fewer covers and since re-opening have also been hit by no-shows. The scheme covers restaurants, cafés, bars and pubs, as well as school and work canteens and food halls, so there is a choice for everyone who is able to get out safely. For some businesses, the support they get over the next few months will be the deciding factor in whether they survive.”
All diners in a group are eligible for the saving and there is no limit to how many times in August you use it.
The project is being backed by Visit Cheshire and a spokesperson said: “Hospitality businesses will be able to claim a reimbursement from the government for the discount they have applied to your bill – helping them in their recovery and meaning you can continue experiencing your favourite hospitality across Cheshire.”

Cheshire Life’s Keep Life Local Awards, in conjunction with its campaign to help get the county back where it belongs, includes three categories for eating out businesses.
Restaurant of the Year
This category is for restaurants of any style and price point. From gastro pubs to fine dining restaurants, we are seeking dining establishments that offer fantastic food and drink along with unrivalled service. Is it their use of locally sourced ingredients and a drinks menu from suppliers in the area that sets them apart?
Tea/Coffee Shop of the Year
Tea and coffee shops are an integral part of the local retail scene and we’d like to know your favourites. Is there a good selection of coffees and loose-leaf teas to hand? Are the scones freshly baked and served with local jams? Why is it your go-to place to grab a coffee when you are out?
Bar/Pub of the Year
This category winner could be a local pub or inn that serves family favourite meals or a lively bar that attracts visitors throughout the week. Do staff provide a friendly service and put customers at the forefront? As a well-known Cheshire establishment, this bar or pub will always be one to go to.
