The 'Bull' is just a stones throw from our base at the Airport and is a great all-rounder. From sitting out on the rear terrace in the summer following a hard day's work to enjoying the traditional winter fare on a freezing cold lunch time - the service and food are always excellent. The home cured beef hash (which is a standing order for me) is worth the visit alone.

I genuinely don't believe you can beat San Carlo for entertaining clients in the city. I can never decide if it's the atmosphere, the volume of dishes on offer or the consistent quality of food that makes me smile before, during and after a visit. I can't wait to take the family when the twins are a little older - they will love the seafood and interaction with the staff.

We are very lucky to have this place as our local, especially as it's a two minute walk back home. The 'Oak' serves excellent traditional pub food backed up with regular themed grill and curry nights. General manager Gary and the team are always welcoming and they change the dcor so regularly here that we never get tired of visiting.

This is a great centrally located place for informal lunch meetings. Basically, it's a traditional Brazilian barbecue where they continue carving the meats at your table until you beg them to stop! The lunch menu is great value and we've had a fun time on every visit.

Another 'local' for us but one we save for special occasions. I love the perfectly cooked steaks here and the Goosnargh duck is simply fantastic. The fabulous wine list, warming hospitality and great surroundings make this a favourite 5.
