Eat your way through the season with the best local produce from some of our county's farm shops
For people who grow their own, autumn has to be the best time. Fruit and vegetables that have been lovingly tended since spring finally relinquish their offerings.
It is at this time of year, too, where you will see Cheshire's farm shops bursting with more produce than ever. The farm shop revolution of the past few years has seen more and more of us picking up our bags for life and heading off to a local grower or farm. Take a look at our guide to a selection of some of the best outlets in the area.
The Hollies Farm Shop
This family business has been built up through three generations of the Cowap family.
From the humble beginnings of an honesty box and vegetable display at the garden gate to a thriving, award-winning enterprise, The Hollies has goods from an army of local suppliers on its shelves ensuring fresh, quality products and great value for money. This Farm Shop, first started in Little Budworth but also with a newer shop in Lower Stretton, stocks everything from an array of jams and preserves, wine and champagne, prepared meals, cakes and pastries as well as fresh vegetables grown on their own land. October is a good month to visit as pumpkins grown by the Cowaps can be bought.
There is also an on-line shop.
