New Spinningfields addition Tattu has got dining down to a fine art as guests at the latest Cheshire Life luncheon discovered
The uber glamorous crowd was matched by the equally fabulous surroundings of Tattu in Spinningfields at our latest Cheshire Life luncheon.
This chic addition to Manchester’s smart Spinningfields area, sparkled in the summer sunshine as guests were greeted to a glass of bubbles in the sleek bar before being led up to the first floor restaurant where the stunning decor was greeted by gasps of delight.
This is certainly a beautiful venue and upstairs the addition of a pink cherry blossom tree makes it a thoroughly captivating space in which to spend an hour... or three.
Tattu’s brand of contemporary fine dining Chinese cuisine has already won it a celebrity following and it is easy to see why. The impressive decor which has been drawn from the decorative influence of body art with a nod to the elegance of an oriental tea house, makes this a stand-out venue for any special occasion.
And of course, this being a Cheshire Life luncheon for a hand-picked group of VIP guests, it was a very special occasion indeed.
The Tattu menu was created by critically acclaimed Executive Chef Andrew Lassetter of Cocoon, Kyashii, Circus and Eight over Eight in London and it provided guests at the Cheshire Life luncheon with a choice of Dim Sum and small plates, created and presented by a team of highly skilled, well-trained chefs who hail from London’s Hakkasan Group.
Chilli salt squid and Wild mushroom spring rolls which were dipped in a truffle cream accompanied Prosecco on arrival, then once seated in the restaurant guests had the pleasure of savouring the exotic flavours of chicken truffle shumai, exquisitely fresh fragrant seabass parcels, wrapped in Chinese greens and a beautifully tender beef and foie grass gyoza, accompanied by the surprising almost sweet flavours of a Gewurztraminer wine.
For mains the Black Angus Fillet served with a shitake, asparagus and caramel soy proved an irresistible combination of meaty textures and full flavours while the chilli glazed smoked aubergine showed flair and imagination, the texture of the vegetable given an almost meaty character with plenty of smoky flavouring.

And finally the Silk Road, a kind of deconstructed cheesecake complete with a garnish of ‘silver’ and a shot of sake brought the lunch to a beautiful conclusion.
Manager Jaime Wilkinson explained that the menu had been devised to showcase the kind of food people can expect when they dine at the restaurant.
‘Our dishes are visually impactful because we taste as much with our eyes as we do our tastebuds.
Everything, from the dishes presented her to the drinks in the bar have to be visually stunning,’ he explained.
He is also delighted by the way Tattu is rapidly becoming a favourite Manchester haunt after only a couple of months on the scene.
‘We are very, very pleased by the response from everybody,’ he enthused.
‘We do keep in mind the fact that we are still growing and the business is expanding and that makes it a very exciting future.’
