Cheshire Life readers headed to our exclusive event at Piccolino, Alderley Edge, for a Charlotte Tilbury make-up masterclass and sumptuous spring lunch.

On a glorious spring afternoon (we'll forget about the tropical storm that hit just a few hours later) Cheshire Life hosted an exclusive readers' lunch at the iconic Piccolino in Alderley Edge. The event took place on Piccolino's chic outdoor terrace which provided the perfect setting for guests to mingle before having the opportunity to watch the talented Charlotte Tilbury make-up team create a beautiful step-by-step glowing summer look.

Before the masterclass commenced, there was an equally summery take on the cocktails with guests sipping on Sloe Royals; a dangerously quaffable concoction of Hayman's sloe gin topped up with prosecco, and nibbling on the delicious Italian inspired canapés that were on offer. The light delicacies included a classic tomato and basil bruschetta as well as delectable Pecorino chunks with truffle honey.

As the cocktails were supped, the glamorous crowd - mainly women but with a few brave husbands in attendance too - took their seats to watch the demonstration by the Charlotte Tilbury make-up team.

Local stylist and former model, Victoria Watson, was the lucky guinea pig and was transformed from already-beautiful to sunkissed goddess in under 30 minutes.

The Charlotte Tilbury team started the detailed make up tutelage with key products to prep the skin, beginning with the award-winning Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, hailed as a skin saviour and suitable for all skin types. To really get the glow, they sparingly smoothed on the Wonderglow face primer, which can be used either to create the base for flawless looking foundation or on its own to achieve a dewy look. For eyes, they used the Charlotte Tilbury Icon eye shadow palette - all shimmery copper tones that were perfect for a day-to-evening look. And finally lips got a double dose of the best-selling Valentine lipstick topped with the shade, Cannes Tropez.

And it wasn't just Victoria's face that was given an extra glow. The team used Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body to create glossy-skinned perfection. Simply smooth on your limbs for a slimming, shimmering all-over-glimmer. Very Bridget Bardot on the shores of St Tropez.

Guests were given bespoke beauty advice and a few even had their make-up touched up, Charlotte Tilbury-style. Along with the treats in their good bags were mini gifts from Liverpool Gin, Cheshire Tea, personalised cookie company Gilded Biscuit and beauty brand, Tancream.

Following the demonstration, a delicious lunch was served. Head Chef Dario Barbato and his talented team whipped up a sumptuous Italian lunch that focused on creating light, fresh yet fulfilling dishes with a slight feminine touch, perfectly matching the theme for the afternoon. It began with a starter of crab ravioli with a light meaty flavour and a subtle addition of zesty lemon to enliven the distinct taste. For mains, a delicious grilled sea bass topped with a gremolata, a chopped herb condiment, and served with lemon alongside rosemary roast potatoes and seasonal greens. Dessert was also a big crowd pleaser; baked vanilla cheesecake with passion fruit sauce, a delicious combination of acidity with a sweet creamy and crumbly texture - a grand finale to a delectable afternoon.

Piccolino, born in Cheshire and still a firm favourite years on, proved itself to be the perfect host for the afternoon. It was a gorgeous event in every way.
