The quality of local pubs, restaurants and food outlets was recognised at this years Chester Food and Drink Awards. More than 300 guests enjoyed a champagne and cocktail reception and a meal cooked by some of the regions best chefs, before hearing who was among the winners.

Hawarden Farm Estate was named Local Produce Shop of the Year and Best Deli, The Chester Fields won Best Newcomer and The Hollies won Best Customer Care and Chester Sausage of the Year. Phil Dougherty, catering manager at Restaurant 1539 and Chester Racecourse, was awarded an Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award.

Jane Mooney, Chester Food and Drink chairman, said: The Chester Food and Drink Awards are the most exciting as they are voted for by people who eat and drink in the pubs and restaurants. They are the very best indicator of what Chester people think are the best food places in the city. Those that win are hugely proud to do so.
