Honestly, you’d expect a spa at the world-renowned Chester Grosvenor Hotel to be really good, wouldn’t you? Well, no surprises here. It is.
Step into the Chester Grosvenor and you’re in a world where everything seems perfect...the quiet, polite manner of the doorman gently tipping his hat, the discreet receptionists, the polished allure of the dining rooms.
Here, men are gentlemen and women are ladies. It’s enough to make one sigh with pleasure and slip gear into a relaxed mode.
So, enter this world-renowned hotel’s spa and you take that relaxed mode a stage further...or two stages by the time you leave, post-treatment.
This is a spa where your satisfaction is paramount. The whole experience is a soothing indulgence, almost guaranteed to leave you looking and feeling better. Their brochure claims that ‘the treatment menu has been devised to balance the body, mind and spirit’. I’m always suspicious of major claims like that, but after a couple of hours in the hands of two very capable therapists, Nicki and Claire, I felt soothed and revived and didn’t want to leave.
There’s a Japanese theme to the decor: cherrywood walls and vases of lotus and blossom here and there. The therapists speak softly, the doors close quietly, all enhancing the feeling of being cocooned miles away from the hurly burly.
Top notch products are used here - of course - including Darphin, Ren and Jessica. I enjoyed a perfect hot stone massage: an hour and a quarter of blissful kneading and stroking of tired muscles with firm fingertips and lovely warm oils, My Ren Hydra-Calm Soothing facial followed (£70) which did everything it promised during the 60 minutes.
Plus, the Grosvenor’s Thermal Suite is a must if you have time to linger before or after your treatments. It’s a series of heat related experiences including a herb sauna, ice fountain, crystal steam room and salt grotto. It’s free if your bill for treatments is over £100, otherwise it’s £35. All this is highly recommended.
