An award-winning salon in Rossett is the perfect tonic, as Rebekka O’Grady discovers.

It seems that 2017 is going well for Rossett’s Pure Perfection. One of the leading aesthetic treatment centres in the area, they moved into beautiful new premises in the pictureque village late last year and recently launched an award-winning facial, which I was invited to try along with two other treatments.

Shortly after arriving, I enjoyed a 30 minute back, neck and shoulder massage (£35) which was heavenly. The pressure was perfect, and any tension that had built up in the muscles of my back and particularly my shoulders, were eradicated by my therapist Marged through a series of soothing strokes and stretches. I was also treated to a CND Express Shellac manicure (£35) in the colour Lobster Roll – a pop of coral ideal for summer.

However, my favourite treatment was the rather special facial. One of the latest in non-invasive skin resurfacing and rejuvenating treatments, the Skin Health for Life HydraFacial (£120) combines separate procedures for cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection. It’s reportedly a favourite among celebrities, including Karren Brady and Kate Winslet.

A rather hi-tech looking machine is wheeled into the room and Marged explains the six-steps of the procedure, putting any qualms I had at ease. As the treatment causes no inflammation and requires no downtime, it’s becoming the ideal solution to help combat any fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and acne.

The facial started with a lymphatic drainage massage to increase blood flow, restore hydration, tone and eliminate toxins. A cleansing solution to deep-clean and exfoliate the skin is then applied, before a glycolic and salicylic acid peel which is said to break down any further impurities in your pores. It sounds scary, but I really couldn’t feel anything beside a slight tingling sensation.

The fourth step involves a specially designed suction device which uses vortex extraction to remove unwanted dirt from the pores. Marged concentrated on my t-zone, which I had earlier expressed as a slight problem area for spots and pigmentation. The next stage is an infusion of pro-peptides and hyaluronic acid which is applied to my skin to replenish hydration and nourish.

The treatment was then finished by shining LED lights onto my face, which help to aid circulation, reduce redness and stimulate collagen production. Marged also applied blue LED lights to fight any further bacteria on my problem areas.

My skin immediately felt plumper, and looking in the mirror I could see I was naturally glowing. A tube at the side of the machine illustrated how effective the treatment was, as it had collected some impurities during the extraction. If these were the results after one session, I would love to see what my skin was like after the recommended series of six.
