Many people head to Knutsford for the shops, restaurants and hotels, but the surounding area has a diverse array of countryside walks that are often overlooked. All these walks commence within a ten mile radius of the town, which make them perfect for a day trip.

Tatton Park has over 1000 acres of mixed parkland that is open to the public, this includes a deer park, two meres and woodland. There are many options for walking in Tatton Park and you can find the routes in the guide supplied by the Tatton Estate.

Explore the area around Plumley, a small village just a few miles south of Knutsford. The added bonus is that Plumley’s train station has a regular service to both Chester and Manchester Piccadilly, making it easily accessible for those without a car.

While Tatton is the obvious choice when looking for a walk around a stately home around Knutsford, Arley Hall is just 8 miles away, and the village of Great Budworth is always a delight to visit.
