Shopping in Tarporley

Shopping in Tarporley

Want a change from the bustle of the city streets? Try relaxed shopping in a tranquil village

How could you not love shopping in Tarporley? It is not only an idyllic Cheshire village nestling in glorious countryside between Chester and Crewe but has a thriving high street with some of the most lovely shops.

Strolling through the village, peppered with a selection of fine bars, bistros and historic inns is a complete delight. And quite wonderfully, Tarporley is something of a fashion destination. It has more than its share of fantastic independent boutiques, catering for the sort of woman who wants to express her individuality in unique pieces. This is the place to source upscale designer labels and quirky European designs, glittering costume jewellery and fabulous footwear.

Aside from being a great place for buying clothes, Tarporley has the kind of shops youd expect in a village. Delicious local produce, pretty flowers, freshly baked bread, giftware and handmade chocolates are all worth the trip. Tarporley has its own award winning health food store and excellent beauty salons too.

This isnt the frenetic shopping experience of a city and all the more enjoyable for that. Its quite a compact place, where the pace of life is relaxed and friendly but dont be deceived because after shopping and coffee and maybe lunch in a local restaurant or hotel you may find that the entire day has somehow just slipped away!

The road to Tarporley

Where is it:
Tarporley stands on the A51 mid-way between Chester and Crewe. If you have a sat nav, CW6 9UN should take you to the village centre. The nearest station is at Delamere, five miles to the north.

Where to park: If you're lucky you'll be able to find a space to park, for free, on the streets. Places are very limited though, so don't be surprised if you find yourself a little further out. During the day between Monday and Saturday the 84 bus between Crewe and Chester passes through the village every half an hour.

What else to do:
There are some great places to eat and drink in Tarporley and the village is the starting point for some terrific walks - you'll find one of the best online at cheshire.greatbritishlife.co.uk. This year's Tarporley Carnival will be held on Sunday July 10th.
