Coronation Street stars performed a cabaret spot for guests at a 21st anniversary spectacular ball at Mere Golf and Spa, near Knutsford.

The actors wowed the crowd at the event in aid of Destination Florida, a charity for sick children. The generous audience raised 60,000 which with other donations brought the total to a staggering 135,000.

Celebrities taking part in the evenings fun included Denise Welch, Tim Healy, Michelle Keegan, Alan Halsall and Matt Evers from Dancing on Ice.

Ann Billington, the charitys fundraising manager said they were thrilled by the success of the ball: In todays economic climate we value, more than ever, company and individual donations and take this opportunity of thanking everyone for their support.

In October next year, 75 children will leave their families and benefit from a sunshine holiday, cared for by a team of volunteer doctors, nurses and physiotherapists.
