5 useful tips on spending a day in Wilmslow

PUBLISHED: 13:40 06 October 2016

Wilmslow has so much to offer for your perfect day out so we’ve put together a short guide with some of our favourite places and top tips.

There are many secure pay and display car parks in Wilmslow surrounding the central high street, just a short walk away from all of the shops and restaurants. If you are travelling to Wilmslow via public transport then you will find the train station located on Station Road, in the centre of town.

Market days

If you’re lucky enough to be visiting Wilmslow on one of their market days then they are an event not to be missed. The Wilmslow Artisan Markets take place on the third Saturday of every month, setting up in the heart of town, adjacent to the main Alderley Road. These artisan markets are no ordinary markets, as they are all about high quality, authentic and local goods. Browse all of the unique stalls, trying some of the delicious home-made culinary treats, including some sensational hot street food. It’s not just a foodie extravaganza however, as there is much more on offer including beautifully handmade gifts and jewellery, homewear and a spot of entertainment from local musicians. Whether you are buying something for dinner, a gift for a friend or simply passing through, you certainly won’t be going home from these markets empty handed.

You will be spoiled for choice shopping in Wilmslow as the town is bursting with some of your favourite luxury high street names, its own department store and some fantastic independent retailers and boutiques for something that little bit different. The Black White Denim boutique is on Wilmslow’s high street and is stocked with some of your favourite designer names which have been specially handpicked for the boutique. Shop womenswear, menswear, beauty and homewear at the stylish Hoopers department store on Alderley Road and browse their eclectic mix of luxury brands. Other Wilmslow high street names include White Stuff, Sweaty Betty and Joules, all located in the centre of Wilmslow.

Pamper yourself

After a heavy shopping session the only possible way to recover is to spoil yourself with a range of pampering sessions at one of Wilmslow’s beauty and spa salons. Whether you want a quick but glamorous blowdry, the perfect manicure or something a bit more intensive like an ESPA age defying treatment, Lusso will give you that five star treatment. It’s not only the women who can indulge in pampering either as Esthetique, located on Water Lane, offer a special collection of gents grooming treatments. MediSpa Wilmslow offer a whole range of innovative beauty treatments including: Ultherapy and Cool Sculpting.

A bite to eat

Eating out on Wilmslow’s highstreet will make you feel like you are abroad as you can dine alfresco with a glass of fizz in hand. CAU Steak Restaurant, pizzeria Serafina and Thai restaurant The Chilli Banana are just a handful of some of the tasty eateries Wilmslow has to offer. If you fancy a more unique dining experience then visit the Clink, located within the grounds of the HMP Styal Womens prison. The Clink is part of a brand new dining experience aimed to transform the lives of women prisoners through work-based education as they will cook and serve you high-end, classic dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients and the latest cooking techniques. If you fancy some after dinner cocktails then head to Unico Lounge where you can relax in their comfortable yet character-filled surroundings and be tempted by their extensive drinks menu.
