Warrington means business

The Peace Centre was the venue chosen to launch the Warrington Business Awards 2018. The occasion featured an audience with speakers Steve Rotherham, Metro Mayor of Liverpool and Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester. Actress Sue Johnston OBE was among the guests who chatted to Colin and Wendy Parry, whose work was instrumental in setting up the Peace Centre. The awards, sponsored by Redwood Bank and Warrington & Co, will take place on June 8 at Lymm Rugby Club.

Jennifer McGuinness, of the WBA, said: ‘This year the awards will be supporting the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation’s Unique Achievement campaign. It marks the 25th anniversary of the Warrington bombings and the work the foundation has undertaken since.’

Coffee and croissants in a buzzing local deli on a lazy Saturday morning give way to the sights and sounds of the weekend street market. A stroll through a secluded square leads to a chance find in a neighbourhood art gallery. A long lunch follows in an old, wooden-timbered pub before a wander through a centuries-old churchyard and a scour of the blue badges showcasing famous former residents. Finally, a spot of retail therapy across a clutch of smart boutiques then it’s back to unload and unwind in the sanctuary of your chic hotel…. bliss.
