Top north west chefs to cook at the Northern Lights Dinner

Ten of the region’s finest chefs will join industry charity, Hospitality Action, for a truly spectacular fundraising dinner at the five star Lowry Hotel in Salford.

The Northern Lights Dinner on Monday September 11th will celebrate the region’s culinary successes over the past two decades as well as Hospitality Action’s 180th birthday.

The event at the five star Salford hotel begins with a cocktail and canapé reception. Guests will have the opportunity to chat to some of the biggest names in the industry before enjoying a five course dinner cooked by ten of the region’s award-winning chefs. They have been asked to create a course that showcases how the industry has changed over the past 20 years. Dishes include culinary delights such as brill, coral crumb, cauliflower cheese, frazzled bacon and aged Lonk lamb, wrapped in seaweed infused butter puff pastry, baked cabbage trompette mushrooms.

The starter will be created by both Shay Cooper, Executive Chef at The Goring, and Mark Poynton, Chef Patron at the Michelin-starred Alimentum.

Award-winning Andrew Nutter,, Chef Patron at Nutters Restaurant and Antony Shirley, Executive Chef at The Seafood Pub Company will make the fish course.

Nigel Haworth, Chef Patron at Northcote and luxury pub restaurants like The Nag’s Head in Haughton Moss near Tarporley, will be making the main course along with Warrick Dodds, Development Chef at The Individual Restaurant Company.

The cheese/savoury course will be created by Steven Doherty, former Head Chef at Le Gavroche and Paul Askew, Chef Patron at The Art School. Dessert will be the work of Paul Heathcote MBE and Chef Patron of Heathcote and Steve Midgley, Restaurant Consultant.

We’re hugely privileged to have ten amazing chefs celebrating these changes and showcasing why the region has had so many culinary successes during this time. It also seems very fitting to celebrate our cooking history as we look back over the past 180 years of Hospitality Action. Guests are in for an evening of incredible food and fun, while helping us to raise those all-important funds for the charity.”

Adrian Ellis, General Manager at the Lowry Hotel and chair of the Manchester Hoteliers Association said: ‘Here at the Lowry Hotel we are great supporters of the brilliant work that Hospitality Action does supporting people in our industry. The event is an exciting way to increase awareness of the charity, raise money and get some very talented chefs creating all under one roof. The Northern Lights Fundraising Dinner will help contribute to the record sum of money Hospitality Action is attempting to raise in its 180th year for those in the industry who have fallen on hard times.
