The Sealed Knot Society came together in Nantwich for the annual Holly Holy Day battle re-enactment

Men, women and children from the Sealed Knot Society got down and dirty in the annual Holly Holy Day battle re-enactment in Nantwich. Swords were waved and guns fired to mark the anniversary of the end of the siege of the town during the English Civil War in 1644.

Alongside various events in the town square, including performances from Nantwich Players Theatre, Morris dancers and Nantwich Young Voices, the Sealed Knot troops paraded along Welsh Row before laying a wreath at the war memorial. The re-enactment of the battle then took place on Mill Island.

The Sealed Knot’s PR director, Rusty AldwinckleSome, said: ‘Some old hands had only missed one or two of these events since it started, for others it was their first time. For one first timer he was astounded by the support the entire town gave the Sealed Knot. Crowds once again lined the streets and applauded as the society marched past.’
