Now that's diversifying

JOHN BELLIS is a hill farmer living at Lower Stirrup Farm on the Glossop Road near Marple Bridge. For 30 years he has combined running his 60 acre farm with a successful career as a watercolour artist.

His works have been bought by art lovers in Australia, Canada, Japan, South Africa, Norway and Finland. LS Lowry admired his paintings when he once visited a local pub.

Self-taught, John also spent many summers photographing Greek holiday beauty spots and recreating the scenes on canvas during the winter in Cheshire to sell in Greek galleries and craft shops.

For 20 years he has had an annual art exhibition at Glossop Heritage Centre. Samples of his work can be viewed on
